Katlyn Smithers, Executive Director at Majestic Care of McCordsville, has always had a passion for healthcare and a deep appreciation for serving others. She began her journey at Ball State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Wanting to further her impact in the field, she pursued a master’s degree in healthcare management from Indiana University, equipping herself with the knowledge and leadership skills to make a meaningful difference in long-term care.

Her career in healthcare began in 2020 as a patient care technician. From the start, she found the field both challenging and rewarding, quickly realizing her passion for helping others extended beyond direct care. “I have always had a desire to help people, and pursuing a career in nursing home administration allows me to make a meaningful impact on the lives of both residents and their families,” Katlyn shares.

Her dedication to geriatric care stems from a deep sense of empathy for older adults. She values being an advocate for their well-being, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care and support. “Not only have I always been interested in healthcare, but I have always had an interest in geriatrics. I love being able to enhance their quality of life and support their unique needs.”

Like many in healthcare, Katlyn faces challenges, but her motivation remains strong. “During difficult times, I stay focused on why I do what I do every day. I think about the residents we serve and the difference we make in their lives.” For Katlyn, the most rewarding part of her role is the relationships she builds. “Being able to make a positive impact, connect with residents and families, and be a source of support is truly fulfilling. It’s a privilege to be part of their journey.”

This Long-Term Care Administrator’s Week, we celebrate Katlyn’s leadership, compassion, and dedication to our community!
